If you take a tight turn, under gas, on pavement, you'll bind schit & you'll hear that outside tire chirping as it skips across the pavement. When you make a turn under gas, the outside tire isn't able to rotate faster than the inner tire.BUT, cause you're offroad & on dirt/gravel/mud/etc, the outside tire just 'skips' along, but you don't notice it cause it's sliding across the loose surface. If you gas it while making a turn, that LOKKA will remain lock as you're keeping the center pin under pressure. The only time the rear wheels would unlock is if you take your foot off the gas & coast (kinda like when you're turning into a parking space), or put it in neutral. So your rear will ALWAYS be locked as the rear driveshaft is rotating under power, and thereby putting torque on the center pin. since yours is in the rear, there's ALWAYS torque to the center pin when you're in Drive. Is something sound amiss.Ĭlick to 's designed to ratchet only when it's not under torque of the center pin. I tried yesterday to head out and find a V ditch or something that I can drop a front wheel in no luck. So what advice do you guys have to test the functionality of the locker. Therefore I can not take my truck to the local play hill to test the locker, as I can already top out the hill with open diffs. However those same spinning slamming events are the same kind that made me fear for the well being of my front diff. I can count on one hand the number of times I needed a front locker to climb something. I installed a lokka to replace the failure prone spider gears, not to necessarily gain traction. I even did it on dry pavement to "make sure". But then again the truck always binds in 4wd when making tight corners. I do not near ticking/clicking, and it is binding. I have heard/read/watched vids that this is how a locked front end feels. The steering feel is now very heavy and it has a much strong return to center. I can not tell if I am locked and or unlocking. More like a tick as something is running along the locking surface rather than a ratcheting click, if that makes any sense. Also the the click I get is not as positive as the click I hear in some of the videos. I caulk it up to the other person (my young son) not being able to hold the tire firmly. One side goes fine, but the other kind of binds some. My neck still hurts from wrestling that pig back in there.Īnyways I go and perform the "unlock" test. Installed the locker into the diff 1 year ago and finally got the unit in my truck this last weekend. I bought the lokka and a spare from diff (from a Reno Xttera member) maybe 2 years ago. I recently installed a Lokka locked R180 into my truck.
